Vintage Treasures Countdown to Christmas!

I love all things old and whimsical, no doubt about it.  And little bits and bobbles just make my heart so happy!  When I saw Melissa’s (from Hollyhocks and Honeybees ) adorable collected and customized bottlebrush tree countdown, I HAD to have such a creation in my own life!  Collecting just the right pieces over the past year had me waiting in anticipation to put them all together… Large and small bobbins, spools, wooden beads, ribbon, vintage lotto numbers, tiny tin molds, and even a few of Melissa’s bottle brush trees… all the pretty things I could find!

After I thought I had all I needed, I found another amazing artist!  Cindy from The Faded Barn sculpts the most AMAZING snowmen figurines, that also include vintage treasures in her designs.  I knew they would be the PERFECT addition to this tiny forest countdown.  I ordered a few of Cindy’s original sculpted snowmen, and after deciding I would need a few more, ventured out to make some of my own.  Cindy has a tutorial in the Better Homes and Gardens Craft magazine which she was featured in for these very snowmen.  As simple as they seem, they were SO time consuming!  haha!  But in the end, worth every hour spent.  It was also so fun “dressing up” the snowmen, and creating their individual scenes.

During a trip to Hobby Lobby, I found the most darling glittered Santa that also happened to be just the right size to complete my countdown.  It only seemed appropriate that he would adorn the “24” …the night before Christmas.

So much time and love went into this festive countdown, I’ll admit I was a little offended when my husband asked what we were to do with it.  LOL.  “Do we take one down each day?”  Heavens, no!  haha!  You can add a new piece each day leading up to Christmas, or display it all at once to enjoy it all month long! (Like I did; maybe I’m a bit proud)  haha!

I think the snowman pictured above is my absolute favorite of the bunch!  I created his little hat and scarf out of a sock!  He sits in one of my favorite vintage JELLO molds, and his little bell I took from one of my old ornaments.  He adorns the number 15, my sister’s birthday… I think that makes him extra special.  <3

The tiny cupcake stands that Santa, and another snowman are sitting on are from Antique Farmhouse.  They were the perfect addition to break up all the wood elements.

Thank you for stopping by!  And a huge thank you to Melissa and Cindy for inspiring me so much!
