I know it’s been a hot minute since I last shared anything on this blog. I don’t know if I should take that as a sign I need to slow down, or if I’m taking the time to live in the moment. Probably a little of both. I am still learning how to balance everything that I love, and everything life demands of me. But I did take the time to create this tablescape- just for me. Of course, my family will be joining me at this table, but let’s be honest; they don’t care about the decorations. That’s for me. I can’t help it. I enjoy creating. This is my outlet. The month of December has me all consumed in obligations. I almost didn’t post this. I told myself it wasn’t a priority. But then I realized, it’s okay to make time for things that you love. So I fed the children lunch, cleaned up the kitchen, and started a load of laundry. Three necessary tasks should allow me time for one thing that I love, right? That’s what I’m telling myself anyway. Enough of my rambling. Here is my “Magical Winter Wood Tablelscape”
This all came to my mind when I first saw these amazing fox and hare napkin rings from Emie James. I immediately envisioned them “chasing” each other around my table, with a magical winter glow in candlelight, reflecting off of Santa’s sleigh bells. Of course it wouldn’t be a winter wood without the warmth of evergreens, and two magnificent stags watching their furry friends run about.
I know. A little deep for just a tablescape, right? But that’s honestly how my brain works. I find inspiration, and a whole story pops into my head! This is the result of what people view as my craziness. haha!
You may notice my mix of metals. I didn’t stick to any rules, I thought they all looked pretty together. I used mostly gold elements, but I felt adding the copper in the cutlery, and silver in the candlestick holders gave it a little more dimension and interest.
I hope you enjoyed this little table tour as much as I enjoyed creating it; and maybe found some inspiration for your own home.
I don’t have any links to share for anything I used. Maybe when I have more time, I can update this post. But in the meantime, here is a source list for you:
